I don’t like drawing people.
The picture on the left is my maternal grandfather. That was the last holiday I got to see him. He would sit all day on that couch, looking at the ocean from his house in Arniston.
I sat and listened to him talk for a couple of hours and this was how I kept my hands busy. He didn’t even realise I was drawing him until I should him the final sketch.
I do not know where that sketch is now, but thanks to a friend who look the picture, this will always be my last memory as well!
The picture on the right (not yet done here) is with the owner of that gorgeous face. A friend who both beautiful inside and out. Like I said, I won’t don’t drawing people – but I couldn’t get this photo of her out of my mind – until I painted this.
