I normally do not like painting flowers or landscapes but this was interesting. But I thought that painting this protea flower would be easy topic for one of my first tries at mastering the art of painting in oil. (See Karoo Tree)
I also tried an etching technique with the leave in order to get the veins right. The hardest part of painting anything is to make sure you see the right colour… which in itself is impossible as each person see different hues and intensities of various colours.
